The AirTrain Jazz Festival w/ Ed Jackson

Ed Jackson and his band performed at the Sutphin Blvd AirTrain station as a part of the AirTrain concert series. The AirTrain Jazz Festival series is a co-production of Better Jamaica and the Sutphin Boulevard Business Improvement District with the marketing support of the Jamaica Arts Council.

The festival’s main job is to bring life and acknowledgement to keyboardist and local Jazz artists to the forefront for people casually traveling to John F. Kennedy Airport.

Jackson began to give me details on his music journey with his band. “We basically, I have played with each one of these musicians individually in different groups. But they also have been a part of my own band,” he stated. “I have a Jazz club in Queens and I have a performance coming. The piano player that is here is going to be playing for me as well.” Jackson continued to explain his love with the local music from the Jamaica Queens area. “We are out here in historic Jamaica Queens where a lot of famous musicians live like Count Basie, John Coltrane, Louis Armstrong. So there is a lot of history and I’m happy to contribute what I can.”
