City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, Abuela Neighborhood Maintenance, and NYC H2O hosted an Earth Day Celebration on April 13th at the Jamaica Playground. The event was free to the public and open to all ages.
A multitude of artists were prepared to do fun arts and crafts activities with the children. They also gave away free books, pens, and arts and crafts tools. The activities ranged from fun games to painting and coloring.
Angela Miskis shared her insights on what she looked forward to for the event. “I like organizing these events because it’s a nice way for parents in the neighborhood to come out,” Miskis stated. “It gives them a chance to do a wholesome activity with the children within the community. Hopefully through that, they meet other friends and family that live right next to them.”
