The St. Clare Church and St. Clare Catholic Academy held its annual Turkey Giveaway on November 16th and the church site. The event was free but a reservation was needed.
The church serviced the community by giving away free turkeys to parishioners and community members in need for the holidays. St. Clare has this event once a year to help families who find themself insecure during Thanksgiving season.
Sachara Valme, the Youth Minister at St. Clare Roman Catholic Church explained the importance of the event to the church. “When we first started it was during COVID,” Valme stated. “And we reached out to families in need and gave them food as well as turkeys. As time moved on we focused on just giving out turkeys. We are giving out around 180 turkeys to everyone in the community that reserved one, to make sure everyone is given a chance to have a great Thanksgiving.”
