The Jamaica Center of Arts and Learning hosted a Credit Report & Scores and Avoiding Identity Theft seminar on November 13th. The event was free and open to the public and took place in the theater.
The goal of the event was to teach people about the importance of financial literacy and the role that lines of credit can play. It was also held to teach people the necessary steps to avoid identity theft.
Veronica Ferrero, a Vice President of Community Lending Officer from Emigrant Mortgage, a Division of Emigrant Bank, gave the presentation. Ferrero stated she goes to different churches and schools to give this presentation. She said her goal in this journey is to “bring financial literacy to everyone.”
