District 28 Hosts Annual Virtual High School Admissions Fair

The District 28 Community Education Council hosted its Annual Virtual High School Admissions Fair on November 12th via Zoom. The event was free and open to the public.

The goal of the event was to promote the different high school programs available to students in District 28.

The event was accompanied by different schools, one being York College Early College Academy. The high school counselor from the school, Sophia Evripiotis gave a presentation on the upcoming programs that they are offering. Students are given the opportunity to take up to 60 college credits through the partnership with York College. On average each scholar is given 46.7 college credits in high school.

Evripiotis explained the importance of the credits being earned in high school. “Basically 60 college credits is two years of college,” Evripiotis stated. “Meaning you and your family save about $15,000. That’s what that would cost with two years in CUNY.”
