The Ace Academic Tutoring and Creative Arts Studio (219-44 Jamaica Avenue) hosted a Night Market Live Art and Music event on October 26th at the studio. The event was free and open to the public.
Attendees were greeted outside of the building with fun murals of Queens legends like 50 Cent. Vendors from all over New York City visited the Queens Village site – to promote their business and make sales. One of the vendors, Mix it Up Body Products – a black-targeted body shop that sells fragrances and soaps – was started by Jamillah Hankerson.
Hankerson said she started her business because, “I saw that all of the products that were made for us (black people) were not working well with my skin. So as a result, I said I’m just going to make my own and here I am today.”
