Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield – 153-17 Jamaica Ave – hosted a Hispanic Heritage and Breast Cancer Awareness Month event on October 11th. The event was free and open to the public.
Attendees were given the opportunity to learn valuable information about breast cancer and receive a free dental check-up exam. People how to self-examine themselves for breast cancer and were given information on programs being offered by the health provider. Chase Bank made an appearance to tell the community about upcoming opportunities they’ll be offering as well.
One of the Blue Shield representatives, Yasmin Hernandez, shared why the event means a lot to her. “We just want to educate the community,” Hernandez stated. “It’s important for everyone to know about the free services that we offer.”
