The Friends of Brookville Park celebrated 15 years of volunteerism by hosting It’s My Park Day at Brookville Park on November 4th. The event was free and open to the public. All ages were welcome.
Sponsors included the New York Coalition for Transportation Safety, and Green Urban Garden.
The organization was giving away bags of compost from Big Apple Compost, seeds, and leaf bags to promote healthy growing habits in the local South East Queens community.
Kangela Moore, President of Friends of Brookville Park, explained the importance of composting. “We are promoting gardening,” Moore stated. “Because planting your own food is healthier, and we want to raise awareness of it in our local community.”
