The Queens Public Library is offering chess lessons for beginners every week at the Central Branch! The classes are free and open to the public for all ages!
At the first lesson, participants learned how to start the game, what to do in the middle, and how to win at the end. The next class will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Additional classes will take place later in June.
The instructor of the class, Esmet Abduraimov, share why he loves playing chess and teaching chess. “I’ve been playing chess for all my life,” Abduraimov stated. “It’s all I know, and I love teaching chess because I believe it’s a great game for kids and adults. It helps with socializing and sacrifice.”
