Council Member Selvena N. Brooks-Powers hosted a vibrant Memorial Day parade on May 26th. The parade, which kicked off in front of her Laurelton office, was free to all who wanted to participate.
The event drew community members interested in honoring those who have served, especially fallen soldiers. Participants marched from her district office, joined by a spirited Army band whose music set the tone. The Federation of Black Cowboys proudly rode alongside marchers, celebrating heritage and service with their horses. The Lady Ryderz, a group of female motorcyclists, also roared through the route, exciting the crowd with their powerful presence. The event was a lively and respectful tribute to those who served and sacrificed for the nation.
Redbone, president of the Lady Ryderz, shared some insight into why she loves riding bikes and what the company stands for. “We are an all-female motorcycle club looking to give back to the community,” Redbone stated. “I love riding motorcycles because it’s a lot of networking and freedom to ride whenever you want.”
