DPR and NYRR Host Baisley Pond Park Run

The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and New York Road Runners held an open park run at Baisley Pond Park on January 11th. The event was free and open to the public.

The organization hosts weekly runs on Saturdays in different parks all over Queens, including Cunningham Park and Brookville Park. Today, the event took place in Baisley Pond Park.

Runners from all over the area gathered for a run around the park. Attendees arrived at 8:45 am and began running/walking at 9:00 am.

Monique Francis, the President of the New York Road Runners, shared why this event was so important to the community. “It’s all about health,” Francis stated. “It keeps people in the community healthy and active. It’s also easier when you have your friend right next to you doing these walks and runs to cheer you on. So it’s really a good sense of community.”
