First Presbyterian Church Hosts 20th Annual Prostate Cancer Screening

The First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica hosted its 20th Annual Prostate Cancer Screening and Health Fair on Saturday, May 3rd. The event was free and open to the public.

The event was in collaboration with Health First and Weill Cornell Medical.

The event began with breakfast, including pancakes and waffles, for attendees just prior to hearing health presentations. The goal was to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer and urge people to get screened.

Dr. Barbara Campbell, a retired nursing professor from CUNY, shared insight on why this event is so important. “We want everyone to have the information they need for free. We don’t tend to get these types of opportunities in our neighborhood for free,” Campbell stated. “So we are giving lectures, cancer screenings and, HIV testing all for free so people can know about themselves and if they need to take necessary steps.”
