The Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning hosted a closing reception on September 5th for Jamaica Flux at the Jamaica Flux Performing Arts Center. The event was free and open to the public.
The goal of the ceremony was to celebrate the Jamaica Flux: Workspaces and Windows exhibition. The artists that participated were Ryin Baskin, Noah Bassman, Olivia Brown, Tariq Julfiker, Sharon Miller, and Aleksandr Razi.
The audience was treated to drinks and light fare as the main show was beginning. Each artist present was given the opportunity to discuss his or her work.
Olivia Georgette, one of the painters, explained why she was excited to do her artwork. “I think art is healing. I think art is love,” Georgette stated. “I found myself through art and healed myself through it as well. I find my creative work to be therapeutic.”
