The Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning is exhibiting “Wherever I Lay My Head” – on view from May 9th to June 20th.
Through various media, including old televisions and headphones, the artists explore concepts such as memory, migration, and “what makes it feel like home.” The exhibit encourages viewers to reflect on how a home can be both a physical space and a feeling of connection, care, and belonging.
According to the program director, Sherwin Banfield, the works incorporate the “complex emotional and physical geographies of home.”
Curated by Indira A. Abiskaroon, the event features work by ARTWorks Fellows Marleen Moise, Laura OsCam, Eujin V. Ra, Julia D. Shaw, Courtney Symone Staton, and TEDF.
