The Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning hosted a Fabric Collage Workshop led by visual artist Laura OsCam (@laura_oscam). The event was free and open to the public.
Teens and adults were given the opportunity to learn how to utilize recycled materials, such as fabric scraps and cardboard. Participants learned hand quilting and weaving while showing their personal creativity. The workshop encouraged participants to explore their favorite colors and patterns in creating their own garments.
The instructor, Laura OsCam, provided insight into why she believes this class helps the youth: “The whole purpose of this event is to show how to use all pieces of garments together and make our own creations from home!”
