The Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning hosted an open house on February 1st. The event was free and open to the public.
The event was filled with children and adults learning about JCAL’s program and the classes offered. In addition to having the opportunity to sample classes like piano and ceramics, attendees could have their faces painted.
David Lawson, the Education Assistant, shared some insight about how the event will help the students and JCAL. “Well, we want more awareness of the programs we have,” Lawson stated. “We have a lot of programs that we feel can help our community. Our job is to bring the arts to the Jamaica Queens community. Unfortunately, some people are unaware of the programs we offer. So we are looking to change that with this event.”
