The Jamaica Center of Arts and Learning hosted its Art Classes Open House on September 7th at their main site. The event was free and open to the public.
Parents were given the opportunity to see the programs that the non-profit organization has to offer. Groups of families traveled between classrooms to get a glimpse of different classes and participated in demo lessons. Classes available to sample included ceramics, piano, acting, fashion design, animation, voice, and painting.
Sylvie Yanello, the piano teacher at JCAL, shared why it’s important for JCAL to host these events. “It’s good to give people a well rounded opportunity,” Yanello stated. “We want the community to have the option to do what they feel is important to them and make sure it’s fun. With all the arts here, they do have a lot of freedom of expression, which helps with releasing anything built up.”
