MTA Hosts Career Fair

The MTA hosted a career information fair at the SUNY-Queens Educational Opportunity Center on September 21st. The event was open to the public.

The goal of the event was to provide information to local Jamaica Queens residents about the opportunities available within New York City Transit.

Multiple branches of the organization were in attendance at the fair – including the MTA Police Department, Occupational Health Services, LIRR Metro-North Railroad, Skanska Construction, and printing.

Reverend Carlene Thorbs, one of the chairpersons of the event, shared why it’s important to make people aware of the jobs in the field. “We need to bring information about our internal jobs to the community,” Thorbs stated. “It’s not just about driving a bus or working a train, there are so many other opportunities that are important for us to highlight.”
