The King Manor Museum hosted Paws on History, a version of its Hands-On History series, on November 4th.
Hands-On History is a free family program series held on the first and third Saturdays of the month at King Manor from 1 to 4 pm. This particular Hands-On History event celebrated the resident cat of the King Manor Museum. Mary, a rescue cat, was found underneath the museum stairs. The museum’s Executive Director took her in, gave her the necessary shots, and made sure she was healthy enough to remain inside. Mary currently lives on the third floor of the Museum.
Guests were given the opportunity to paint pictures and color in photos of cats. Animal Care Centers of NYC made an appearance to show proper ways to rescue an animal.
Abigail Waldron, Education and Programs Coordinator at King Manor told us more about how Mary has helped the King Manor family. “If you look on our website, she is our Employee Welfare Officer,” Waldron stated. “So she just brightens up our days. The fact that she’s a rescue from this park and now she is a part of our museum is just so special!”
