Roy Wilkins Park Hosts Rise Up NYC Concerts

Rise Up NYC – a concert series presented by New York City Mayor Eric Adams – hosted the first of two days of concerts at Roy Wilkins Park on August 16th. The event was free and open to the public.

On day one, reggae, dancehall, and other Caribbean sounds were in the spotlight. The lineup included a list of fantastic artists, including Wayne Wonder, Luciano, and DJ Bobby Konders

Wayne Wonder is a dancehall superstar known for hits like “No Letting Go”, “Bounce Along”, and “Turn Off The Lights”. His unique music – a fusion of Reggae and R&B – makes him one of the most recognizable artists from the 2000s.

Luciano, a reggae legend, is considered the “Messenjah”. His most famous songs include “Sweep Over My Soul”, “Lord Give Me Strength”, and “Give My Life”.

Bobby Konders – a well-known DJ, producer, and radio personality – is influential in the dancehall and reggae music communities in the United States. Most of his work has been in New York City, where he has worked with names such as Beres Hammond and Super Cat.

Native flags and dancing brought the Caribbean vibes to life throughout the park!
