Stogies on the Rocks Hosts School Drive Barbecue

Stogies on the Rocks Social Club hosted a School Drive Barbecue on August 10th in Brookville Park. The event was free and open to the public.

Reggie Merritt, Treasurer of the Stogies on the Rocks, said the purpose of the club is “trying to bring our community together”. The club hosts numerous giveaways such as winter coat giveaways for the winter, turkey giveaways for Thanksgiving, and Christmas Drives. Merritt stated the company does “the little that we can with the small community we have built,” with hopes of growing to have a parallel impact.

The organization was there to collect donated school supplies from people to be handed out the following weekend to children in need. Composition notebooks, pencils, erasers, book bags and other school supplies were donated for the cause.

Nichole Chandler, the secretary of the Rocks Social Club, explained the bigger purpose behind the event. “We want to come out because we want to make sure there are enough people coming together,” Chandler stated. “And we need to come together to help people because, unfortunately, some people don’t have the means to take care of themselves. So why not spread that love.”
