The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York hosts weekly food pantries every Monday from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Seniors are served from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, and the general public is served from noon to 2:00 pm.
Reverend Rasheed Baird shared some insight: “We serve about three to four hundred people every Monday and Thursday. The church’s food pantry started over forty years ago. We started out serving about fifty families, now it’s gone up to over five hundred families.” Reverend Baird also shared that next month the church will be hosting “The Feeding of The Multitude,” another outreach event where they’ll give out over eighteen hundred turkey baskets to the needy in Queens, Manhattan, and Brooklyn.
