The Greater Allen Cathedral hosted their Back to School Weekend on August 24th and 25th at their main location. The event was free and open to the public.
On the 24th, attendees participated in a school supplies giveaway. Children were given free books, backpacks, sneakers and haircuts to get prepared for the school year. On the 25th, a Sunday service was held for the students and parents to give encouragement towards the back to school program.
Edward Jordan, the youth pastor from Greater Allen Cathedral, told us what he looks forward to in this event. “It’s all about giving back to the community that needs it,” Jordan stated. “As a church our mission has been to serve the community that we are a part of. It’s a part of what we believe is our Christian calling but also our calling as a human being to serve other people and to do good for them.”
