York College men’s volleyball faced off against Baruch College in a CUNYAC matchup inside the York College Gymnasium, losing in three straight sets.
Baruch held the advantage throughout the three straight sets with scores of (25-11, 25-12, 25-11). In addition to leading the scoreboard, York looked completely outmatched by Baruch’s offense and defense throughout the match.
Leading the stat sheet for Baruch College, Ari Osmanaj produced a match-leading 11.5 points (five kills, four aces, 2.5 blocks). Argjend Osmanaj distributed 10 kills on 16 total attacks. Juancarlos Henriquez contributed five kills, three aces, and a hat trick of block assists.
For York College, David Heyliger, Jr carried the offense with team-highs in kills (5) and attacks (23). Glenver Stuart and Stanley Sanchez produced two points with Sanchez distributing the attack with eight assists.
Baruch also led the match in team statistics such as Kills (35), Points (58.0), Assists (33), Aces (15), and Blocks (8).
York continues to struggle to pick up wins with a record of (1-12) this current season as the team looks completely outmatched against their opposition. York men’s volleyball has not produced a winning record since the 2014 season. A season in which their record was (20-18), leading to a CUNYAC Championship Final appearance that resulted in a loss.
A disappointing season for York’s head coach, Anthony Reyes, as he felt excited to lead the men’s volleyball program when he was appointed head coach ahead of the 2023 season.
Per York Athletics, Reyes said “I am very excited to lead the York College men’s volleyball program and to become a part of the Cardinals’ family,”
