York College Athletics announced Aisha Bruce as the new addition to the Track & Field coaching staff at York College. Bruce will serve as the new interim assistant coach for the men’s Cross Country / Track & Field team.
“I am blessed to have the opportunity to be an assistant coach at York College,” Bruce stated. “I’ve learned to respect the history of York and what others of the past have done for the athletic program. They have paved the way for us new beginners to continue their legacy and maximize the growth and potential of the future athletic generation.”
Bruce served as the head women’s cross country and track coach for Freeport High School. Bruce guided the Red Devils to third place at the Nassau County Girls Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2006 and 2007.
Bruce also helped Freeport capture the Division 1A Girls Outdoor Track & Field championship in 2007.
Having experience in NCAA Division III competition, Bruce competed for two seasons in 1994-1995 as a team member of the indoor and outdoor track and field team.
Bruce graduated from SUNY Buffalo with a bachelor’s degree in African American studies and earned a master’s degree in Physical Education from Queens College in 2011.
