York College’s Women’s Basketball Loses to Baruch College In A Blowout Loss

York College Women’s Basketball faced Baruch College in a CUNYAC matchup, falling by a scoreline of 75-30 inside the York College Gymnasium. 

In the first half, Baruch College outplayed York College with tremendous defense and offense. Baruch’s superb performance in the first half led to them limiting York to just 19 points. Baruch would end the first half leading by a score line of 43-19. 

Entering the second half, Baruch continued to showcase a great defensive and offense performance by finishing the game with 75 points and limiting York College to just 30 points. 

Leading the York Cardinals on the stat sheet, Alicia Gumbs added 12 points, a game-high 17 rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and two steals. Nadaysia Nivar totaled a career-high six points and two steals. Madison Plaza added six points and five boards.

Gibson totaled 16 rebounds (seven offensive) and two steals.

Leading the stat sheet for Baruch College, Mia Castiilo produced  23 points, 10 steals, nine assists, and seven rebounds. Elissa Leung added 13 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and five assists. Madison Thornton-Lewis contributed a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Precious Mitchell added 10 points (5-of-10 FG).

The Cardinals shot 22.4 percent (11 of 49) from the floor, 12.5 percent (1 of 8) from the three-point line, and 46.7 percent (7 of 15) from the free-throw line. Baruch connected on 32.3 percent (31 of 96) of their field goals, shooting 26.9 percent (7 of 26) from downtown and 42.9 percent (6 of 14) from the free-throw line.
