One of the ways The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral supports the community is through the food pantry it operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The food pantry was established to provide assistance to the food insecure.
I visited on Thursday, June 6th and witnessed just how much the pantry is needed. Young and old waited patiently in line to pick up everything from fruits and vegetables to fish, poultry, meat, and other essential items.
Alice McCoy, an Assistant at the food pantry, spoke of the significance of the food pantry: “We serve about 300 people a day with food.”
