The Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning hosted its second Meet the Playwright on the season on December 21st. The event was free and open to the public.
Meet the Playwright presents staged readings of works from local playwrights from November to February. A Question and Answer panel The curator of the event, Brenda Jones, appeared on stage to provide an introduction before the show began!
The December Meet the Playwright featured a Jamaican play called “Brown Girl in The Ring” by Rajendra Maharaj. The play describes the challenges of being a black woman living on the island of Jamaica. The play was filled with great music, lively dancing, and Jamaican culture.
