The Jamaica Center of Arts and Learning hosted its sixth Thursday Night Jazz Festival performance of the 2023-2024 season on November 9th. Sullivan Fortner took the stage.
The Thursday Night Jazz Festival is a free featured Jazz performance open to the public every second Thursday of the month. According to Curator Rio Sakairi, JCAL is offering “Cutting-edge contemporary Jazz from October until May.”
Sullivan – a fantastically talented pianist and composer – is a Grammy Award-winning artist from New Orleans known for his albums Moments Preserved and Aria. Sullivan’s music – which prominently features the cello and drums – sounds like a combination of Neo-Soul and Jazz.
