New York State Senator James Sanders Jr. hosted Snake Road: What’s Next? on April 10th at Public School 38, The Rosedale School. The event was free and open to the public.
Senator Sanders used the event to speak to the local community about the Brookville Boulevard stretch known to most – mostly for its flooding and sanitation concerns – as Snake Road. Recently, the city was given a federal grant to consider next steps to address the flooding.
One attendee shared with Senator Sanders that she is unable to bring her children to school during inclement weather because of the flooding in her home.
Deputy Queensborough commissioner, Adam Silvestri, spoke about the importance of today’s meeting. “It’s an important corridor that connects two disparate parts of the borough, Rosedale and Rockaway,” Silvestri stated. “It’s a road that needs a lot of attention and it’s something that this community has dealt with for a while. Unfortunately the fixes aren’t easy, but this is a start.”
