Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Hosts Prom Dress Giveaway

The Delta Beta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. hosted its annual prom dress giveaway on April 6th at the Institute for Health Professions at Cambria Heights. The event was free to the public to attend.

The event’s intent was to give prom dresses and tuxedos to students in need for the upcoming season. From March 11th to April 3rd, the sorority accepted new, cleaned, and gently used dresses and suits for men and women.

The event was in partnership with New York State Senator Leroy Comrie, New York State Assembly Member Alicia Hyndman, New York State Assembly Member Clyde Vanel, New York State Assembly Member Khaleel Anderson, New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, New York City Council Member Selvena Brooks-Powers and New York City Council Member Nantasha Williams.

Youth Coordinator Alicia White explained why she is excited to have this opportunity given to the community: “We’ve been in the community for over 60 years, and we just want to give back to the people in the community who can’t afford these expensive prom dresses.”
