Allen Cathedral Hosts E-Waste Recycling Event

The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral hosted a free electronic waste recycling event on March 9th. The event was conducted with the Lower Eastside Ecology Center.

Park rangers and volunteers assisted people who needed help properly disposing of their electronics. They accepted computers, phones, televisions, and other electronics that are difficult to recycle properly. They also had a shredder available for guests who sought to shred papers.

Rodeena Stephens gave her point of view on the services provided. “One of the purposes of the Greater Allen Community is to build community,” Stephens stated. “It’s important for us to be able to have a space and a platform for people in our community. We care about the environment and one way to ensure that we have a healthy environment is making sure we throw away our electronics correctly.”

Outside of these e-waste events, the New York City Department of Sanitation allows for the disposal of e-waste. You can learn more about your e-waste disposal options by visiting: https://www.nyc.gov/site/dsny/collection/get-rid-of/electronics.page
