Assembly Member Alicia Hyndman hosted a Rain Barrel Giveaway in front of her office on Merrick Boulevard on May 18th.
District residents were given the opportunity pick up one of the 40 rain barrels for home use. Rain barrels catch rainwater, which can be used to water gardens or wash cars.
Cherise Parson, a representative from Assembly Member Hyndman’s office, explained the goal of the event: “We’re giving out rain barrels to the community to save the earth,” Parson stated. “It will also ensure that the gardens and sewer systems have reusable water.”
