Life Camp Inc. hosted its Gaming 4 Peace Symposium & NBA 2K Invitational Tournament on April 6th in the York College Main Academic Core Building. The event was open to the public and for all ages.
The tournament allowed men and women of different ages to compete for a grand prize of $15,000. Celebrity guests included actor Shameik Moore and Time Magazine’s Chief Marketing Officer Sadé Muhammad.
The purpose of the event was to reimagine gaming, e-sports, and entertainment as tools of healing and non-violence.
One of the tournament announcers, NITTY, shared why it’s important to give this opportunity to the youth. “It helps promote healthy competition. It gives the younger generation a chance to experience a college like York and then play video games in a safe environment.”
